Stop Horse Slaughter

Every year thousands of wild and domestic horses from Colorado and other states are being shipped to Canada and Mexico to be slaughtered and processed into food for Asian and European markets or are live shipped to countries like Japan for slaughter there. Often the person relinquishing his or her horse, perhaps because they can no longer afford to care for it, has no idea the buyer intends to sell the horse for slaughter. Dear Lawmaker,

I stand with 83% of Americans who oppose the slaughter of wild and domestic horses for human consumption. As my elected official I am asking you to support legislation that will be introduced in 2023 to end this cruel, barbaric and unnecessary practice.

The treatment the horses and donkeys receive is inhumane. Their destiny is a slow and painful death. There is no truth in the reasons BLM give for removing them. Their stuffed in holding pens with sun baking them standing in feces, urine and infection. Probably not much food and water. Taxpayers money at work and try to sell them back to us if they can. Otherwise off to the most cruel form of death. These horses discovered our country, fought wars, traveled across country with settlers, farmed and many other things. Now they make people rich through the capture system. Hrses deserve freedom.

This is the most inhumane thing that has ever been legal. It must stop at all costs. These horses were not created to be murdered for profit. Please someone find a way to stop this.

All horse slaughter must end. Horses are our companions, have been humans great , courageous friend, doing everything we ask of them, even if they endure loss and hardship, such as fighting with us in our wars, pulling our carriages and farm equipment. Now they are helping humanity heal through equine assisted therapy. It is time to evolve and honour horses as part of humanity’s family. We would not send our own children or family members to be horrifically slaughtered. No horse should ever be abused, betrayed, terrorized, tortured or slaughtered. Horses have deep emotions and form strong family bonds with each other and with humans. They are not disposable toys. No one needs to eat horse meat. And almost all horse meat contains dangerous pharmaceuticals that can harm humans, due to the standard drugs, like bute, given to all domesticated horses. Eating horse made is dangerous. It is time for the majority of the citizens to exercise their rights and views. It is time to honour life and stop this heinous act of slaughtering horses. Shame on humanity for ever allowing this to happen.

I am one of the 83% although I think the percentage is much higher than reported. It’s shameful that Americans are subjected to the horror of our horses being sent to other countries for food. Horses are NOT livestock and we are instructed as Christians not to use them as a food source. Neither should our country be part of such barbaric actions.
